2005 Toyota Matrix, 5-speed manual transmission, 1.
8L 4-cylinder, metallic grey.
The good:
-Reliable.
Daily commuter for 2 years, taken it on road trips to Asheville, the Black Hills, New Orleans, Minneapolis.
.
.
-Gas mileage, consistently 33-34 mpg highway.
-Body and Interior are generally in good shape, some minor issues detailed below.
-CD player, radio, sun roof, and all speakers/power locks/windows work.
-No windshield cracks or chips.
-Cruise Control
-No dash lights, doesn't burn or leak oil AT ALL.
-Neither good nor bad, rear windows have a tint that generally looks nice but is peeling in a couple places.
-Carefully driven and well-maintained, see below.
The bad:
-Clock display above CD player doesn't work
-256,000 miles, but no sign of slowing down.
-Pock-marking on hood, only on the front foot or so and nowhere else on body.
-One tiny dent each on the rear doors and a tiny scratch on rear passenger door.
-Quick grinding noise shifting into third ONLY if you shift too fast or car has just started.
If you go slow or if the car's warmed up this isn't an issue and doesn't affect driving either way.
-Button assembly on driver's-side door isn't attached properly.
All buttons work but they sorta move away from you as you press them, still functional.
Here's what I've done in the 2 years I've owned it:
-New starting motor (Steven's Auto Repair-Fayetteville)
-Changed gearbox fluid (Grease Monkey-Fayetteville)
-Factory recall airbag replacement (Toyota of Fayetteville)
-New front brakes/resurfaced rotors (Firestone-Springdale)
-New tires (Discount Tire-Fayetteville)
-New cabin and air filters (me)
-Windshield wipers and a rear light bulb (me)
-Regular synthetic oil changes, most recently on 04-09-2024 (Grease Pig-Fayetteville)
Runs and drives great, I just bought a truck and don't need two vehicles.
