JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for coordinating the provision of student success support for NSU students through the University Advising Center.
MAJOR DUTIES
Provides academic advisement and support to undeclared first and second year students and other declared students as needed.
Coordinates academic intervention and support programs for at-risk populations.
Designs, implements and coordinates initiatives to improve retention and graduation rates.
Identifies and monitors the academic performance of students not making satisfactory progress toward a degree.
Facilitates training and workshops for faculty and staff in appropriate usage and identification of at-risk student populations.
Assists University Advising Director with collection, monitoring, and reporting FTFT cohort data.
Utilizes data for at-risk populations to make recommendations for policy and process improvements.
Coordinates tutoring services.
May teach University Strategies courses as assigned.
Serves on a variety of university committees.
Performs related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Director of the University Advising Center assigns work in terms of very general instructions.
The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include Family Education Rights and Privacy Act requirements, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education guidelines, the NSU Course Catalog and the BANNER Faculty Guide.
These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of varied program coordination and advising duties.
Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to coordinate student success programs.
Success in this position helps students achieve their academic goals.
CONTACTS
Contacts are typically with co-workers, other university personnel, faculty, staff, students, and members of the general public.
Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, to provide services, or to motivate or influence persons.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending or crouching.
The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
The work is typically performed in an office.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no direct supervisory responsibility, but may have indirect supervision over student staff as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree, completed or in progress, preferred.
Annual salary $38,112.
00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
