NSU invites applications for the position of Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The Associate Vice President works closely with the Provost as well as Academic Deans, Department Chairs, and other Academic Affairs units regarding academic processes, accreditation, assessment, and policy compliance, overseeing the Office of Institutional Research and Office of the Registrar, as well as managing the Academic Affairs office.
Duties:
The Associate Vice President works with the Provost and as part of the Academic Affairs team with a primary responsibility to oversee program quality and reporting including periodic review processes, specialty accreditations, program assessments, and course evaluation.
The Associate Vice President serves as the institution's Accreditation Liaison Officer for the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and is responsible for all program notifications and institutional updates.
This individual works closely with governing and coordinating board policy and provides notifications and reports as needed to maintain NSU's compliance.
Finally, the Associate Vice President serves as the Department of Defense MOU point of contact and provides regular updates regarding NSU programming, tuition, and policy compliance.
Minimum Education:
Terminal degree required and qualifications appropriate to the rank of professor.
Minimum Experience:
3 years of administrative experience at director/assistant dean level or above.
Substantial full- time university level teaching experience.
Significant experience with oversight of complex projects and budgets.
Has obtained tenure at a college or university.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a doctoral degree, university teaching experience, and academic administrative experience.
Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, leadership potential, and professional development required.
Preferred Qualifications
1.
Prior faculty appointment and promotion to tenured status at a regionally accredited institution or its equivalent.
2.
Experience with regional or national higher-education or specialized professional association (SPA) accreditation.
3.
Experience with technology usage and tools to create, support and assess academic programming.
Job Functions:
1.
Compile and submit state, regional accreditor, and federal reports to maintain compliance and good standing.
2.
Monitor changes in policy at all levels and communicate impact to campus community members.
3.
Facilitate periodic program reviews, low-productivity, and post-audit reporting.
Assist faculty seeking specialty accreditation as needed.
4.
Supervise Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Registrar's office.
Respond to questions regarding reporting and degree conferral as needed.
5.
Work with faculty on proposed curriculum changes and new program proposals.
Facilitate the University Curriculum Committee, review and correct proposals as needed, and prepare board item submission according to timelines.
Oversee the update of university catalogs and work with the Registrar's office to update all university systems (Banner, Degree Works) after final approval.
6.
Support transfer articulation processes by serving as point of contact for feeder institutions; proofread documents to ensure accuracy.
7.
Monitor Academic Affairs budget accounts; provide oversight for the acquisition, renewal, or payment for learning and productivity technologies.
8.
Monitor faculty load and course survey reports and data.
9.
Facilitate fall and spring semester Commencement activities in conjunction with the Registrar's office.
10.
Serve as Academic Affairs liaison for internal committees including developmental education, general education, strategic planning, and university policy.
11.
Support special initiatives including external constituent organizations and grants.
12.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Annual salary $115,956.
00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
