Job Summary:
Assists in activities and services of the Cherokee Nation College Resource Center which has a significant amount of public contact in person, by telephone, and via email.
Coordinates activities related to the electronic transmission of scholarship applications and awards.
Reviews and processes scholarship applications and awards according to policies.
Assists with maintenance of software programs to process financial aid applications.
Assists with conducting scholarship program and financial aid awareness events.
Assists students and parents with applying for financial aid and determining eligibility.
Job Duties:
Imports scholarship applications from online scholarship system.
Performs cursory review of all incoming scholarship applications for compliance with program policies, procedures, and deadlines.
Verifies that scholarship applications meet program guidelines.
Generates electronic notification letter to scholarship applicants on application status.
Determines student eligibility for scholarships and programs.
Updates student records when notified of changes.
Provides feedback to management about policy concerns or trending areas of concern.
Assists student and parents by providing one-on-one application assistance when applying for the Cherokee Nation scholarship and other financial aid.
Also advises applicants on how to maintain the scholarship.
Works with colleges and universities financial aid offices to assist resolving eligibility issues.
Creates payment on a timely basis in system to be verified by management.
Provides input to management on technology issues and needed changes, program or policy changes, and deadline adjustments.
Assists in development and update of scholarship newsletter, publications, and forms.
Assists in delivery of presentations to school and community groups, financial aid conferences, and workshops to explain the Cherokee Nation Scholarship programs and other financial aid services available.
Maintains all appropriate files of documentation and correspondence in electronic filing system.
Provides support to reception area.
Performs other duties as assigned.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university; No substitutions
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
At least two (2) years experience in a related field is required.
(Experience may include working in customer service).
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should have knowledge of Contact Management software; Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Professional communication skills, knowledge of office technologies (computers, fax, scanners, ect.
), highly confidential environment, ability to perform with frequent interruptions, adapt to frequent changes in workload with established time frames, ability to work independently.
During application and renewal processing time will have high volume of phone calls and student inquiries, some evening work will be required during high volume times.
