The Lead Counsel role for Strategic Initiatives will be responsible for providing legal counsel on public policy issues, including legal advice on proposed and new federal and state legislation and regulations on a wide range of legal policy issues.
What you'll do: Providing legal advice to the Company relating to legislative trends on large range of legal policy issues and analyzing and evaluating proposed legislation and regulation on legal policy issues Coordinating with internal business, legal, compliance, and government affairs partners on complex legal policy issues, and advocating for solutions to those legal policy issues Representing the company directly with government officials and other stakeholders about legal policy issues Identifying, prioritizing, and managing risks to the company by engaging and supervising outside counsel and collaborating with internal clients to develop mitigation strategies Educating internal clients and external stakeholders on a range of federal and state legal policy issues What you'll bring: Experience as legal counsel in-house, at a non-profit, or at a federal or state government agency with experience providing legal advice on government relations, proposed and new legislation, rulemakings, or public policy litigation Significant experience providing legal advice on legislative drafting Diverse legal experience on a broad range of legal issues affecting public corporations, such as administrative law, consumer protection, employment, tort, or other areas Significant experience leading complex strategic initiatives involving many different internal and external stakeholders Process-minded and look for opportunities to streamline for improved efficiency and effectiveness Strong written and verbal communication skills Organization, discipline, and can manage multiple projects simultaneously Proven experience empowering your business partners while working collaboratively to achieve cross-functional goals within a corporate environment Leveraging technology to streamline processes, communication and workflows Proven track record of risk identification, assessment, and mitigation Empower other members of the Legal team to operate with autonomy while adhering to the standards that have come to define the Walmart brand Strong communication skills to interact with senior leadership and stakeholders The above information has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed in the role.
